About Bees
When I started Bee’s Flower Shack, I knew I wanted it to be more than just a place to find beautiful blooms. For me, flowers and bees go hand in hand. These little pollinators aren’t just busy workers buzzing around the garden, they’re the heartbeat of our ecosystems, and I think they deserve to be celebrated!
Why Bees Matter to Me
I’ve always been fascinated by the way bees keep the world turning. By carrying pollen from one flower to another, they make it possible for plants to produce fruit, seeds, and new life. Without them, so much of what we eat and enjoy simply wouldn’t exist. Supporting bees means supporting nature itself.
My brother keeps bees as a hobby and it’s absolutely fascinating to visit his hives and watch how they work. They’re such clever little creatures! Seeing how organised and busy they are is endlessly inspiring. Plus, the honey is delicious… sweet, golden, and straight from the hive!
The Different Types of Bees
When people think of bees, they often picture honeybees in a hive, but there are actually hundreds of species in the UK alone. Just a few are:
Honeybees – Famous for their honey and their teamwork in hives, they’re also incredible pollinators.
Bumblebees – Big, fuzzy, and often striped, they’re strong enough to keep pollinating even on cloudy, chilly days.
Solitary Bees – These live alone rather than in colonies, but they’re some of the most efficient pollinators you’ll ever find.
Mason & Mining Bees – Quietly nesting in walls, soil, and hidden corners, they play a vital role in keeping our wild plants thriving.
Doing My Part — and Helping You Do Yours
Bees are under real pressure from things like habitat loss, pesticides, and climate change, but I believe small actions can make a big difference!
That’s why, with every purchase you make from Bee’s Flower Shack, I include a free packet of bee-friendly flower seeds. It’s my way of helping you create little sanctuaries for pollinators, whether in a garden, window box, or even a plant pot!
I love sharing the joy of flowers while also giving something back to the creatures that make it all possible. By planting those seeds, you’ll be joining me in making the world just a little bit more welcoming for bees!
